Can anyone help identify a suitable replacement for my starter, ( on my v8 gaz petrol engine ) ?
apparently the bendix is shot and the local electrical repair company cannot relate to all the russian part numbers on it !!

Hi Simon,

Sorry for late reply. Please do the following: Make Photos of this unit, and add a description to it and put it in the site. The original ones can be available via Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Russia, Litvania etc ... and cost more or less nothing. Should you not want to wait, you can install from a V8 US car the starter.

Best regards,
Georg

Hi , Simon,
in BG. -Sofia there remained only a shop or two selling spares for GAZ 53/66. These trucks are too expensive to run as they are thirsty - 24-28 litres of petrol /100Klm. Most of them are converted to diesel - Perkins engine- very slow like a tractor.
Starters can be found for E 100-250 a piece, depending on condition - used, rebuild or factory new.
If you have not solved your problem, next week I could send the driver to the shop to check availability.
I do not have any idea what the postage would be, as the starter is quite heavy.
Do you need a starter, or just a Bendix?
For a rebuilding you will need also a new relay and brushes, if the rest is ok.
send a mail .
