Hello everybody,

One of my relatives was kind enough to create the volga in autocad. He also made a trailer design. A trailer manufacturer in Holland will buylt this trailer for me. I want this specific model, so i'm able to drive the volga in and out of the water, without using a crane. The system is quite simple: the front roller slides along te frame as the boat is pulled up. On top of the steel frame we will boult a wooden bottom and vertical part to secure front wing. The back is fixed and will also be covered with wood.

The measurements are not exact, but just calculated without trying. I will keep you informed how this will work in real life. The trailer must be lowered from a sloop from about 10 degrees or steeper. All the drawings are our own design, so everybody is free to use it, so enjoy. The trailer will cost me aprox EUR: 6.500. than it is suitable for road use including licence plates. For Dutch owners: the manufacturer is Damco trailers. He liked my story. That's why he wants to buylt it. I will take my Volga from Latvia to Holland in 3 weeks. I already prepared the engine. It's a 180 HP mercedes turbodiesel.

I will upload the other drwaings seperate, becouse of the size of the file.

Hi Daan,

have you any picture of your trailered Volga? It would be interesting to see, how it works in reality.

I have a trailer from Harbeck and want to fit it with a construction wich allows me to trailer the boat. Your front support model and the rail system looks very interisting.

Thank you.

When I bought my Volga I got this trailer with the boat. It works ok, but getting the wings in the right places usually takes a few tries.

Here is my custom trailer.
It is rock solid behind a the car!
Trailer and trestle(?) are galvanized.

Hi, thank you for the pics.

At one photo there are the boat supports of the trailer lengthwise mounted. At the other trailer the spports are across the driving direction.

Has anyone experiences with the optimal adjustment? Because of the hull structure shouldn´t it be better to mount it lengthwise? Then the supports bear the boat over two bulkheads if they are long enough.
If the boat is beared with the across mounted supports, won´t this take effect to the hull? I could imagine there is a high bending moment from the overhangig back or front part of the hull. And with relatively small cross supports isn´t there an energy transmitted to the hull which is equal to a hammer stroke?

Second thing is, some lay the boat with the front foils directly (with a rubber support) on the trailer construction. What do you think, because the shocks from the road are stronger than from water, will this cause a damage to the hull?

I would appreciate your experience with it.

Cheers
Olaf

Good Question Olaf,

I copied the supports of the original "crate"what was delivered with the boat.
It is very solid.
And i think it is a good set up.
My trailer bends some on the front section, but not between the sports.

I have seen the trailer of Daan,Standing on foils,That trailer is SOLID.
I wil not bend.
Personally i would have made mid support on it..
