Curious
This says that the boat (or only engine?) was built by the Kieler Howaldtswerke, a Western (!) German shipyard in Kiel. This Volga was apparently built in 1965, a year with high tension between the USSR and the west.
Further info: the boat/engine number is 318 the engine produces 90HP at 3600 RPM, where a normal Volga engine would produce 70HP at same RPM.
UPDATE: The plate shows mixed information. 318 is the boat number, 1965 is the year the boat was built (finished). The code behind BAUART M.A.N TYPE is the serial number of the engine. The engine is of type GAZ-49b, a slightly more modern version of the original GAZ-53 engine that used to be in the boat.
