In the norhern part of Poland there is a big system of linked lakes, being important holiday area, especially for sailing and fishing. In these landscapes in 1976 there was made a TV series (Szalenstwo Majki Skowron) about a teenage boy (Ariel) , whose father was a Milicja (former Police) officer, responsible for the Masurian holiday area. What is not surprising, his everyday work tool was a patrol boat. Guess what type :-)
I enclose the first part of the series. Interesting is that we see not a modern or modernised Volga, but the boat like it really was in 1976. You will find a lot of details of original design. Forget the dialogs :-)

ps. for those short of time, there is in youtube separated 2 minutes head of the series.

I wanted to watch the Volga footage again of the polish series 'Szalenstwo Majki Skowron', but it looks like the video that Tomasz posted has been taken down. I found the most important part, the beautiful intro with the Volga, in another clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si6dUcK2hmo

Then there is some footage of the old Nixon Volga:

J.Pedra put some footage of his Red October on Youtube:

Also I took the Volga scenes from the movie Spy Games and put them in a single clip and put it online:

I accidentally stumbled upon a scene in the Russian movie called "The Diamond Arm" where a Volga races by, so I added that scene to YouTube as well. It seems to be the same type as our "Officer's boat", including tailfins!

Hi RMW,

Thanks for posting those video's! I love the paint-job on your Strela, accentuates the speed very nicely! Is your boat completely finished now? What type of Toyota engine did you put in, and how did you marinise it? I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my engine, so all input/experience of others is much appreciated.

And please do share some pictures of your boat; I think we're all dying to see some shots of that beautiful boat of yours!

Cheers,
Maurits

Hi Maurits,

no it is not finished complete. Some details are left.
When the boat is finished I will tell you something about the rebuilt and post some pictures of the progress. But no details on the engine and the parts to marinize it.
