Heating problem

Post by Klas »

Can anyone tell me where the cooling water intake for the engine is located. Is it at the lowest point under the aft wing?

Hello Klas,

See image below for the loctaion of the water intake. What seems to be the problem with your cooling system? We also experienced some problems with overheating the first time. In our case we figured out that we had to manually fill the pump with water before starting the engine, because otherwise it could not pump up any water. But perhaps you are experiencing a different kind of problem?

I have got the volvo sterndrive. the engine goes well up to 70% then it overheats. i have cleaned the heatexchanger and checked the pump. maybe it is getting to little water through the sterndrive. I was thinking on doing an extra intake of water by the aft fin 1 1/4 piping, that should give enough water, if that is the problem?

I have to go to the marina and drive some volga today, soon it will be cold and the boat must be lifted and do its wintersleep on land.

can i tell you my friend that you need to clean out the strainer that is located just before the water pump. undo the long bolt in the center, clean out the clogged seaweed and shells and that will do it, also c heck the condition of the impeller. at high speeds the impeller will fail if not in good codition.warren
