1975 volga hard top 275. Whats this worth???

Post by steve-n-sons »

Hey ,
I buy and sell boat in Canada. I just bought this boat and have no idea what I have. It looks like its a 1975 Volga 275 hard top . The vin number shows that it is # 001 . This may be the neatest thing I have ever bought. It has been repowered with a volva penta, but everything else looks original.
I am really interested in finding out what this is worth. (ballpark idea)
I am also wondering if anyone knows how this got here in canada?
Also , how many of these hard tops were made
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Hi Steve,

Great find! The 275's are much rarer than the open models. They originally came with a Volvo Penta, but your boat seems to have been modernised with a more recent Penta.

You said it has vin #001 - where did you find this number? There are a few different numbers in these boats; usueally the boat-number would be displayed on registration placard of which you uploaded a pic. I can hardly imagine that the Russians would export the very first 275 - but hey, it's possible...

I see you already put a price on it. There was a 275 for sale near Amsterdam for around that price. Took a couple of years before it was sold, but 2 years ago it was bought and someone put a lot of money into it - you can see the results on https://youtu.be/iTzc8visEvc. Anyway, these boats usually need quite a bit of work to get into mint condition again, so your price is about right I guess. Hope you will find a buyer here on the forum, someone who will treat it with a bit of love.

Cheers,
Maurits

Thanks for the input!
I am not 100% sure about it being 001. but if you look at the vin # on the top of the placard you will see the very end looks like "no001" I was very excited to see that.
I have it out front of my shop right now and i get about 15 people a day come and look at it.
I think i will be sorry if i sell this

Hi Steve,

Have a look at this video https://youtu.be/iTzc8visEvc and then decide for yourself if you REALLY want to sell it...

Cheers!
