Re: Volga 275 with Volvo turbo engine
Hi,
From what I see from here .... looks like ''Long Dong Silver'' to me, I am afraid ..!
Is it as promising or are we going to face a Brain-stroke? I think this more or less depends on the reduction ratio.
But big propeller secures better performance... Any datas?

Re: Volga 275 with Volvo turbo engine
Hi Robert,
A 275 with a stern-drive? Maybe I don't understand correctly, but as far as I can see, the stern looks pretty much like on the build-plan:
Haven't heard of a Volvo turbo engine in a Volga before, but hey, that's why I started this site in the first place - a lack of information on the web on these matters in a language that I understand.
Prop looks just like mine (V-drive), so guess this is either an original, or someone exchanged his (Z-drive) prop for another Volga V-drive version?
Anyone else? Do you have some more pictures?
Maurits
Ps. this is your second 275, right? Out of a dozen or so? Are you trying to corner the market for these unique machines!?!

Re: Volga 275 with Volvo turbo engine
Hi Maurits,
The boat on your build-plan has rounded sides at stern, I have one of them, the Bresnev Volga, with normal Volvo.
This my last boat has flat sides and the layout is different. It is built in Batoumi 1984 with original Volvo turbo 130 hp.
As far as I know there was only built 10 boats of this type for Sotchi coast guard. This, was the last which we rescued from there - at last they said so !?.
Pilot is in middle front, 2 rows of seats for 4 passangers. After back seats a kind of "standing platform", i think, where cost guard man can stand and keep to the
special rounded rail when boarding " customer " boats.
Yes, this is the second 275. Out of only ten so far... ....more on the way. How could I resist to collect such of delicate boats???
Best regards
Robert

Re: Volga 275 with Volvo turbo engine
Hi Robert,
Look what I found, right here in Amsterdam: TWO Volga 275's! And I thought that I would never get to see this rare beauty... seems they are quite abundant in my part of Europe
The boats belong to a family of Volga lovers. They started with a regular Volga 70 in 1972, which was sold in 1978 (to an uncle) and replaced by the yellow 275 ("Wammes Waggel"). The other 275 came into the family later on. Both 275's were refitted in Sweden with 135 bhp Volvo turbo-diesel engines before they came to the Netherlands; "Wammes Waggel" was later refitted with a 235 bhp turbo-diesel engine, and hydraulic steering for stability.
I will ask the owners for some more pictures and background stories, for in the gallery. What a great find!
